ABOUT ACCYFS
African Canadian Children Youth & Family Services (ACCYFS) is a culturally grounded, community-focused organization dedicated to supporting Black children, youth, adults, and families across Ontario, the Caribbean, and Africa. Guided by the principle that “It takes a village to raise a child,”

Amensie Washington is a Registered Social Worker and Executive Director of the African Canadian Children, Youth & Family Services (ACCYFS). She provides leadership in the development and delivery of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and youth-centred services that support the well-being of children, youth, and families. With expertise in mental health support, family engagement, crisis intervention, counselling, and case management, Amensie is committed to promoting positive outcomes, strengthening communities, and empowering children and youth to reach their full potential. Her leadership is guided by principles of equity, inclusion, advocacy, and service excellence.

ACCYFS provides culturally relevant, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed services designed to strengthen families and foster long-term success. We proudly support anyone who identifies as Black—including African, Caribbean, Afro-Indigenous, Afro-Latinx, and Black Canadian families—recognizing the social, cultural, and historical factors that shape their lived experiences.

To engage and support Black families by delivering culturally relevant and culturally sensitive services that enhance family development in homes, schools, and communities.

To increase awareness, create equitable opportunities, and empower Black children, youth, and families by providing supportive strategies that promote growth, resilience, and lifelong success.
